Claire Barclay - Exhibition Talk

Sat 24 August, 4-5.30pm
Venue: Old School Thornhill (OST)
Booking required - Tickets FREE

We are delighted to welcome Cample Line and their exhibiting artist Claire Barclay this August. Claire will give a talk about her current exhibition RAWLESS in the context of her wider practice.

Bringing together materials including wool fabrics, wool crewel yarn, combed wool fleece, sheepskin, lanolin, welded, forged and laser cut steel, rust, machined brass and gorse, RAWLESS comprises a series of interrelated sculptural elements that are mindful of Cample Mill’s history as a site of local woollen yarn and textile manufacture and as a place of both labour and dwelling.

In talking about her use of materials and her interest in the overlaps between the agricultural, industrial and domestic contexts, Claire has said, I’m working with the material properties and their potential to suggest different contexts, different activities, different sensory experiences, memories, historical, cultural references. But I’m doing it in an intuitive way, so that all these different references come together into a sort of hybrid object, an invented object, but that has a sense of something familiar.’

Join us for refreshments and what will be a fascinating opportunity to hear about Claire’s practice and the development of RAWLESS.
